"Madame at the morning dressing ceremony rights of entry are given to members of the high court. Major rights to princesses of the blood and mistresses of the household while minor rights to the valets and charges. Anyone with rights of entry may enter at any time so you must pay attention to acknowledging properly each arrival. And you must not reach for anything for the handing of an item to the dauphine is a guarded privilege. And must go to the highest rank in the room.”

Name this plant

Yesterday we drove thirty minutes from Portland to Banks, Oregon and biked our favorite trail towards Vernonia. I thought I knew all of the flora and fauna of the area pretty well but I had never seen anything like this before. There were a bunch of these pods growing on vines. This particular one was handy enough that it was easy to take its picture.

As a point of reference, this pod is about the size of a small lemon. And one more thing, this pod was about four feet from the ground but others were dangling way over our heads so that we couldn’t even reach them. Does anyone know what this is? Garden Science, do you know what this is?

Update! movies oriented thinks this may be a Marah oreganus (Oregon manroot, coastal manroot or western wild-cucumber) and I think they’re right! Thanks for the help, guys!
